Ruff Life: Now NOLA can let the good times roll!

NOLA is a special pup and, much like her namesake city New Orleans, has overcome obstacles and risen high on the other side.
After being hit by a car and being taken to our partners at Vet Ranch for surgery, NOLA became an honorary member of the Dallas Pets Alive! tripod club. A few days later she went home to her foster family who quickly fell in love and adopted her.
DPA!’s Dog the Month – May: Meet Zephyr!

Trainable, friendly, adaptable, strong, smart, calm and gentle — these are some of the words people use to describe May’s Dog of the Month, Zephyr. She’s a three-year-old Pit Bull Terrier mix with an even-temperament who has never met a person she doesn’t like! A black and white spotted charmer who sports a pink bandana with flair and style, she is as cute on a leash as she is popular.

Holly the Hospice Foster

Meet Holly, a senior Golden/Chow mix. Holly is the face of hospice foster pet care.
Holly was surrendered to the city shelter by an owner when she was about 10 years old. When she arrived at Dallas Animal Services, she exhibited symptoms of physical and emotional stress, but when our volunteers got her out in the play yard, we saw a different dog. She ran laps, was carefree around other dogs and even played with her reflection in the windows. Due to her happy-go-lucky nature outside her kennel, DPA was able to find her a foster home, but that’s only the beginning of Holly’s story.
Road to Rescue: A Dallas Pets Alive! Olympics

The Olympics may only come once every four years, but Dallas Pets Alive! is bringing home the gold in rescue on the daily. To honor this momentous occasion, we wanted to feature our top athletes in the Fur Division.
Ruff Life: Help Emmitt Smith join the Hall of Fame

Emmitt Smith, the dog, started his career on the injured reserve.
This is Emmitt.

This is Emmitt, Emmitt Smith. He’s a youngish, black-and-white lab mix with his own gorgeous eye mask who’s in the market for a forever home of his own. We thought we’d found that home for him – not once, but three times – and through no fault of his own, it didn’t work out. He […]
JAGGER’s Got the Moves

Jagger showed up at DAS with puncture wounds and was very shy. Now he is healthy after being rescued by DPA and looking for a FURever home. Is that home yours?

How To Foster, Part II: The Living Situation

Our Dallas Pets Alive fosters always go above and beyond to welcome a new furry friend into their home. We love seeing pictures of a foster pup enjoying their new digs, snuggled up in a dog bed bought just for them and surrounded with new toys.
