Donating Your Car to Dallas Pets Alive! Is Easy
We’ve partnered with Charitable Adult Rides and Services (CARS) to make donating your vehicle easy. Donations are eligible for tax deductions, and the following types of vehicles are accepted for donations: cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles, trailers, motor homes/RVs, airplanes, ATVs and watercraft.
Step 1: Complete the form
Step 2: Schedule a pickup
A towing center representative will contact you to schedule a pickup by a licensed tow company. There is no towing cost to you, and your vehicle can be picked up from your home, office, or even a repair shop. You will be required to provide the vehicle’s certificate of title at the time it is picked up by the tow company.
Step 3: Get a tax receipt
The tow company will give you a pick-up receipt in exchange for your vehicle and signed title. After your vehicle is sold, CARS will provide you with a tax receipt. If your car is sold for more than $500, CARS will supply you with an IRS 1098-C form in addition to the tax receipt.

We encourage you to consult your tax advisor about your charitable vehicle donation. They can give you detailed advice and instructions about itemizing your charitable donation on your tax return and advise you on specific IRS forms you may need to fill out and submit with your taxes.
If you are interested in donating a vehicle, please review the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) guidelines for tax deduction allowances. Dallas Pets Alive! partners with CARS (a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in San Diego, CA) to sell donated vehicles, so the amount of your donation may not be the same as the private party sale value of your car.
