Just in case: Animal Disaster Preparedness

Floods, tornadoes, earthquakes, wildfire, and storms of all kinds are natural disasters and should be prepared for continuously. Weather can change quickly and protecting your most valuable possessions should be top of mind – including your pets. Luckily you can begin the groundwork now, in honor of National Animal Disaster Preparedness Day on May 8th, by gathering some of your dog or cat’s most helpful belongings in the case of an emergency.

DPA!’s Pawesome Person: December Foster Spotlight

Although Julie is new to the foster team, she has made such an impact in her short amount of time with DPA. We know that if a dog is in need of immediate transport to the vet or a temporary place to stay in order to leave the shelter, Julie will step up to the plate. She always has our dogs and cats in mind and will do whatever is needed to save their lives. She radiates generosity and compassion for not only the animals but the other fosters in our organization. It is people like Julie that make our community so strong and impact so great. I am excited to watch her grow in this organization and help save more lives.  – Stefanie Steiner, Foster Director for Dallas Pets Alive!

DPA!’s Cat of the Month – December: Meet Paula PiCATso!

Our cat of the month is Paula PiCATso. She is a six-month old, female Domestic Short Hair/Mixed who was named after the famous cubist painter, Pablo Picasso. Her interesting black and white geometric markings are reminiscent of geometric, abstract shapes that Picasso was so famous for. Now through December 31 her adoption fee is 50% off!

Black Friday Adoption Special!

This Black Friday* while everyone else is saving money, you can save a life! All adult pets that are all black, mostly black, or have predominantly black markings are 50% off the regular adoption fees!

DPA!’s Pawesome Person Spotlight: October Volunteer Spotlight

Myriam Hunter has been one of our most stellar and responsible volunteers for the PASS program since its inception. We count on her to not only be a wealth of knowledge and resources for citizens at our PASS table but also helping to train other volunteers on the program. Her dedication for PASS is a shining example for all our volunteers. PASS would not be the same without Myriam and it’s because of her hard work and commitment, many animals have been able to stay in their homes and out of the shelter.

As Seen on TV: Gus, Elliot, Charlie, Zephyr, & Lady Guadalupe

If you’ve tuned in to watch the Ruff Life segments on The CW33 on Wednesday evenings, you might see a few familiar faces here. That’s because these six magnificent dogs were each featured for their own 15 minutes of fame, and are somehow STILL adoptable with Dallas Pets Alive!

This sweet girl is looking for her forever home, and you could help her find it! Alexi is brown and white, has soulful gold eyes and is about 5-to-7 years old. DPA!’s Pawesome Person: March Foster Spotlight

“Lauren and Austin are absolutely incredible people and fosters! They have been to hundreds of vet appointments, events, and meet & greets, dealt with more puppy poo than I can even begin to imagine, and oh, did I mention they have saved EIGHTY lives with Dallas Pets Alive?! Lauren and Austin are known as our “puppy gurus” and consistently pull puppies at risk of euthanasia from the shelter. Whether it’s taking on a single pup in need or a litter of 15, they don’t hesitate to do whatever it takes to save them all. Lauren also serves as our Assistant Foster/Medical Director; this real life Wonder Woman not only takes care of her crazy crew of puppies at home, but she spends countless hours supporting other fosters to help get their pups adopted as quickly as possible! We are endlessly grateful for all that she does for DPA, and are so excited to honor her as one of our favorite PAWsome people!,” says Allison Brandon, Foster/Medical Director of Dallas Pets Alive!
