July 2018 DPA! Leadership Spotlight

Meet Meredith Jones, Dallas Pets Alive!’s Medical Assistant Director! She makes sure all of the pets in our program are getting the medical care they need in order to get healthy, stay healthy and ultimately find their forever homes. It takes a special person with the right blend of compassion, patience and organization to hold down this role, and Meredith is that and so much more. (She’s also a rockstar foster mama!) We’re incredibly thankful for her dedication to our mission.
DPA!’s Pawsome People: July 2018 Foster Spotlight

“I had the privilege of on-boarding Kasey as a foster when she first applied to volunteer with DPA. I remember having the most candid conversation with her – she was not afraid to ask questions, talk about her fears of being a foster, and absorb any and all information I was throwing her way. By the end of that conversation, she already had a foster in mind and picked him up shortly thereafter. 2 years later and Kasey’s enthusiasm for our mission, these animals and her overall passion for rescue has not diminished in the slightest. Kasey continues to pull the dogs that are overlooked in the shelter – large dogs, bully breeds, major medical cases, the works! She doesn’t discriminate though and also helps by fostering kittens through our TNR program! When she is not working her full time job, managing the other full time role of a mom, caring for her own animals or full time foster, she is helping out as a temp foster, offering transport to and from adoption events and vet appointment and provides her wisdom as a seasoned rescue volunteer. We are SO lucky to have Kasey on this team!” – Stefanie Steiner, Dallas Pets Alive! Foster Director
DPA!’s Pawsome People: June Foster Spotlight

“Maddie is what every foster wishes they were…she is the owner of a fabulous boarding facility, Lucky Paws, in Allen. So basically she spends her day snuggling and playing with puppies. Cool, right?
Maddie was referred to us through one of our adoption counselors after adopting the cutest puppies ever from DPA! She dove right in and became a foster as well as one of our boarding partners. Maddie has continuously stepped up when fosters were in desperate need of immediate temp situations. These pups would have had no where to go if it wasn’t for her willingness to take them in!
We recently received a rave review through Facebook about one of our representatives who helped wrangle in a loose foster pup at a gas station in Allen. It wasn’t hard to put the pieces together to know that it was of course Maddie who came to the rescue! DPA is extremely lucky to have Maddie and Lucky Paws on our team!” – Stefanie Steiner, Foster Director for Dallas Pets Alive!
May DPA! Leadership Spotlight

The past couple of months have been very challenging for the Dallas Pets Alive! medical team. We have taken in more medically urgent animals, tougher cases, and several surgeries that have run up large vet bills. But, we do it because that’s what it takes to save more lives! Behind the incredible DPA medical team […]
DPA!’s Pawsome Person: May Volunteer Spotlight

“Marissa volunteered to co-chair our Annual Pup Crawl this year (on top of her other DPA duties), an even that is complicated and an important part of our budget. She has done a wonderful job navigating the ups and downs of event planning and doing so with a positive attitude and professionalism. I have enjoyed working with her on one of my favorite DPA events and I look forward to see her in action this weekend at our biggest Pup Crawl yet!” — Leslie Sans, Executive Director for Dallas Pets Alive!
DPA!’s Pawsome People: May Foster Spotlight

“Adam and Mary have been fosters with DPA for a little over 2 years. They are very open-minded individuals who tend to go for the dogs that are overlooked in the shelter environment. There are many times where Adam and Mary are willing to open their home to a dog that wasn’t even on our radar. They are the types of people who truly act upon the idea that no dog is left behind, regardless of how they may show in a shelter environment. Not only are they great fosters, but they are all around fantastic people and we are so lucky to have them on the DPA team!” — Stefanie Steiner, Foster Director, Dallas Pets Alive!
Leadership Spotlight: Christina, DPA!’s Adoption Assistant Director

Happy tails and forever homes – that’s the ultimate goal for the dogs and cats that enter the Dallas Pets Alive! program. Without the dedication of amazing leadership volunteers like Christina, we couldn’t successfully adopt hundreds of animals each year. “We are extremely lucky to have Dave as a foster and volunteer with DPA! He has been saving lives with us for a few years and opens up his house to those who wouldn’t have been given a second chance otherwise. It is extremely rewarding to watch fearful or anxious animals bounce back into the […]

“Alyssa holds two roles within DPA! that tie together multiple Animal Operations teams. She works hand-in-hand with Rescue Team, Foster Team, and Medical Team taking on lots of varying administrative work off of the Directors and Assistant Directors to allow them to focus on big picture items. Since joining DPA! as a volunteer, she has […]
DPA!’s Pawsome Person: March Volunteer Spotlight

Amy is quickly approaching her 1 year anniversary with DPA and in her time has made a huge impact on the Medical Team! She has been a consistent and reliable driving force in ensuring our animals are seen by vets in a timely manner and receive the specific medical care they need. Amy is an Appointment Authorization Admin for our Medical Team and we could not be more thankful for her fast turn around time, friendly and professional demeanor, and thirst for knowledge and understanding of both the inner-workings of DPA and veterinary procedures. Amy has become a key Medical Team volunteer and is someone both the Medical Coordinators and the fosters have learned they can depend on to get approval forms regularly completed in a timely manner. With roughly 300 animals in foster care at any given time, this is no easy task, but Amy never fails to get the job done! DPA and our fosters are so lucky to have Amy here to help with getting the animals feeling healthy and adoption ready as quickly as possible.
