June 2019 Cat of the Month: Meet Elvis!

June 2019 Cat of the Month: Meet Elvis!

It’s not his size that sets him apart as much as it is the size of the love in him. This month’s entertaining cat is petite, but has a lot of charm. He is a 9-pound Domestic Shorthair/Silver Tabby with light green eyes and has a love for cat toys. Meet Elvis!   This rock-and-roller came to Dallas Pets Alive! as a stray, but it’s clear to everyone that he wasn’t meant to live his life without the affection of people and other animals. We think he could be a smash hit in a permanent home of his own, bringing his own special style to a forever family. Elvis loves to be with people and wants to be included in all your activities. He is curious, polite, has a quiet side and has even won over people who say they don’t like cats! He would love to share the stage with other cool cats — and even dogs. He is vocal at meal time and is a bit of a door-dasher so his owner would need to watch him carefully.   Are you looking for a special friend that will keep you entertained and bring you love? We think Elvis will love you tender. Elvis is 50% off through June. Apply to adopt Elvis here or...
June 2019 Dog of the Month: Meet Gracie!

June 2019 Dog of the Month: Meet Gracie!

Who is that masked hero? I want to offer her a Grande Starbucks Mocha with extra whip! This month’s featured dog may not be a superhero who flies with a cape or scales the sides of buildings, but she’s an everyday hero who provides loyal and loving companionship. She is a 38-pound black-and-white Boxer/Terrier mix with a noble disposition. Meet Gracie! This girl is lively, curious and loves to explore her world. She is also a big cuddler, so be prepared to spend some quality time on the sofa with her. She is potty-trained, house-trained and loves to seek out adventure. The fact that she looks stylish in her paw print bandana is just an added bonus.   We would love to see Gracie in a home with a yard so she could run and play. Are you looking for some love and devotion? Are you willing to share your Starbucks with this loving pup? Gracie is 50% off through June. Apply to adopt Gracie here or...
May 2019 Cat of the Month: Meet Leo!

May 2019 Cat of the Month: Meet Leo!

With a name like this month’s featured cat, we were expecting a lion or at least a reasonable facsimile but this kitty is just a furry friend with a friendly disposition who likes to follow his foster mom around the house and cuddle.  Meet Leo! Leo is a male Domestic Shorthair mix with silver tabby markings and big white patches that set off his light green eyes.  He’s known for his talkative nature, his love of cat treats and his willingness to snuggle and watch tv. He is described as “friendly and dapper” and no doubt it’s true.  Just look at his photos! Leo has tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) which makes his immune system weaker and requires him to be an indoor cat.  He will need to stay current on his immunizations and see the vet as needed. FIV can’t be casually transmitted to other animals or humans and Leo should live a normal life span with proper care.   Are you looking for a feline friend for those long t.v nights on the sofa?  Leo may be the right cat! Apply to adopt LEO today! His adoption fee is 50% off now through the end of...
DPA Dog of the Month – March: Meet MOLLIE

DPA Dog of the Month – March: Meet MOLLIE

A strong, lean, friendly hiker and cuddler who loves people and other dogs … meet Mollie!   A young, female, black-and-white Labrador Retriever/German Shepherd/Border Collie mix with speckled paws, dark eyes and floppy ears, this big girl is ready for a forever home of her own! Mollie is a high-energy pup and is accepting of all kinds of people and dogs.  She will keep you company on walks — and even on runs — but will pretend to be a lap dog, ask for attention by placing a paw on you and sweetly curl up with you on the sofa at the end of the day.   Mollie is house-broken, crate-trained and walks pretty well on a leash.  A key to keeping her happy and well-behaved is lots of exercise and consistent training.  Thanks to her caring foster family, she is able to sit, stay and shake and is working on a few other commands to impress you. We think this special pup will be happiest in a house with a yard and some trails nearby.  Because of her size and her instinct to herd, we think a household with older kids is best. If you are active and willing to take Mollie along on your adventures, she would be an enthusiastic companion. Are you looking for a friend for those long walks in the park? Mollie is 50% off through March. Apply to adopt Mollie here or email adopt@dallaspetsalive.org....
DPA Cat of the Month – March: Meet SYLVESTER

DPA Cat of the Month – March: Meet SYLVESTER

An affectionate jumper who curls his toes while he sleeps and makes friends easily … meet Sylvester!   Our March cat of the month is a cute Tuxedo who brings the warm and breezy feeling of spring to his every interaction with people and animals, alike!  This kitty is an attractive male Domestic Shorthair mix with four white socks and pretty, light green eyes. Sylvester was found near a bike path, underweight and dehydrated, when a kind person got him out of the hot Texas sun and brought him to Dallas Pets Alive! for some much-needed care.  Since then, Sylvester has been in a foster setting with other dogs and cats where he is cuddling, playing, exploring and jumping up a storm! This black-and-white charmer is litter box-trained, uses a scratching post, knows his name and the meaning of the word “no”.  His foster mom calls him caring and expressive. He is friendly and likes lots of company. Could you be the fortunate person to give this sweet cat a forever home? Sylvester is 50% off through March. Apply to adopt Sylvester here or...

This sweet little cat can talk up a storm, keep you entertained with her playful antics and curl up on your lap to give you loads of affection.  Meet Olive! A spritely, young black and brown Tortoiseshell/Mixed, Olive is full of life and looking for her forever home. It might take Olive a while to get used to you, but once she overcomes her initial shyness she will become a playful, affectionate companion who will follow you around the house and even greet you at the door in the evening!  She’s described by her foster as easygoing, loving and curious. Her favorite activities are carrying her toys around and chasing them all over the place. You’re sure to be entertained by her antics. 🙂 When this little cutie is ready to relax, she is more than happy to curl up next to you on a chair or a bed.  When she’s into serious relaxing, she can be found kneading her special blanket, especially if you are underneath it to get a kitty massage.
