Pope is a handsome, affectionate 4.5-year-old, 60 lb Heeler/Great Pyrenees mix with a heart of gold and a love for life’s simple joys—especially belly rubs, tasty treats, and car rides (his absolute favorite!) With his soft coat, soulful eyes, and gentle demeanor, Pope is as charming as he is loyal. After the unexpected passing of his devoted owner, Pope was taken into temporary care and has been patiently waiting for a second chance at a forever home. He is up to date on vaccinations and has been well cared for, including management of occasional mild skin and ear sensitivity.
Pope has a moderate energy level and truly offers the best of both worlds—he enjoys walks, games of fetch, and tagging along for adventures, but he’s just as content relaxing on the couch by your side. He forms strong bonds with his people and loves being near them, happily soaking up affection whenever it’s offered. Pope has lived with other dogs before; however, he can be protective of his food and toys, so he would thrive best as the only pet where he can fully relax and enjoy his space. With an experienced and patient owner, he may be able to live with a calm, more submissive dog. His compatibility with cats and children is currently unknown. He would benefit from a home that can provide structure, continued training, and regular activity like walks or outings.
Pope is house-trained and understands home routines well. He is still working on leash manners and would benefit from continued guidance to help him build confidence and consistency on walks. He is a smart, eager companion who will flourish with an owner willing to invest time in training and leadership. Pope was rehomed through no fault of his own—his transition is solely due to the loss of his previous owner—and he has shown incredible resilience and sweetness through it all.
