Meet Opal (New Digs)!

Opal is a beautiful, 8 month old seal-point domestic shorthair who has been calm and curious since she was found as a 1 month old stray kitten. She has been fully vetted, spayed, and microchipped since 5 months. She’s incredibly relaxed and affectionate – always wanting to be near people in the home. She was a confident, yet soft presence among her litter, helping usher them into a new life.

For a few months prior to finding Opal in March 2025, a young, malnourished, pregnant cat showed up hoping for food. Once trust was gained, she came back with 5 little kittens, one being Opal. The kittens accepted food very quickly as they had not been conditioned to fear humans. After a few weeks of daily feeding, Opal began to wait for dinner a couple of hours before feeding time. She was obviously excited for food, but she was also eager to receive and give affection. She was more than fit for a home from the very beginning and was already on her way to meeting her family!

After rounding up the litter and getting them all fixed, Opal was brought indoors. Because of how easy going she is, she would do very well in a household with kids or additional pets, or even a single-person household. When relaxing together, she will love to sit on your lap or lay next to you. She loves to cuddle! She’s a social butterfly in general, so she’s going to be happy to see anyone inside of the home, even if you live completely on your own.

Opal has been incredibly kind to children. If Opal feels uncomfortable with a child’s volume or behavior, she simply removes herself, leaves the room and finds her own space. It is incredible how gentle she is when she’s doing something she’s not particularly interested in. She acts very respectfully toward elder pets. If she is interested in hanging out with an older pet and if they’re not, she will give them the space they want. With her also living outside for the first 3 months of her life, she has seen plenty of dogs. During feeding time, she wouldn’t even lift her head for the barking dogs walking past. She adapts to new things very well.

Opal immediately took to litter training and will do great when you leave for longer periods of time throughout the day. She’s always been very easy-going about food. I’ve never had issues with her being picky – she’s a foodie at heart, happy with any crunchy or wet food we’ve transitioned through.

Her coat has always been incredibly soft, and her contrasting coat colors and bright blue eyes make Opal very striking to see when you first enter your house. She looks like such an accessory! Because her coat style is seal-point, Opal will likely get darker as she gets older! Many people like to say seal-points get “toasty” as they grow. Sweet Opal is so excited to meet her forever family! Thank you for considering this beautiful girl.
