Meet Evander!

Evander has been waiting a long time for his person, but somehow… his heart never gave up. This 12-year-old gentleman came to the shelter back in 2016 after surviving life as a stray, and while the years have added a little silver to his face, they’ve also given him depth, humor, and a truly special kind of love.

At home, Evander is a certified couch potato who takes snuggling very seriously. He adores toys, especially his beloved piggie, which he likes to hide (strategic treasure placement is one of his talents). Plush toys don’t stand a chance, he’ll happily destuff them in minutes and look very proud of his work. He’s goofy, expressive, and full of personality once he feels safe.

Evander is loyal to his core. He needs a patient, dog-savvy home that understands slow introductions and clear boundaries. The beautiful surprise? Evander can live with other dogs. He just needs very gradual introductions and a little help learning social skills he never got the chance to develop. Once settled, he’s perfectly content sharing space and sticking close to his people.

Evander isn’t looking for chaos or constant outings. He’s looking for comfort, consistency, and someone who sees past first impressions and into the soft, silly soul underneath. If you believe the best relationships are built on trust, patience, and a shared couch, Evander might just be your once-in-a-lifetime dog.

Come meet him. Bring snacks. Ask about his piggie. 💜
