Meet Dezi (aka “Floof”): A Loyal Soul Seeking a Forever Home
The Basics: 6-Year-Old Great Pyrenees Mix
The Vibe: Professional Cuddler | Devoted Companion | Goofy Playmate
Dog/Cat Friendly: With a friendly and submissive dog, she would probably work very well—she is typically submissive. Cats are more risky – We believe she could possibly have a prey drive towards Cats.
Kid-Friendly: Yes
Dezeray Rebel (“Dezi” or “Floof”) isn’t just a dog; she was a lifeline. For years, she was the constant emotional support and “fur child” to her late mom, Heather, a passionate mental health and animal rescue advocate. Dezi has a profound, unique ability to tune into her human’s emotions, providing a sense of calm and safety that is truly special.
We took Dezi in after Heather’s sudden passing, but between our newborn and our own pets, our busy household is simply not conducive to the environment she needs. She is looking for a new”forever person” to dedicate her big heart to.
What You’ll Love About Her:
When she’s in her element, Dezi is the most docile, sweet, and cuddly girl you’ll ever meet. She is an incredible emotional therapy dog who knows the value of a good couch session and will happily snuggle you for hours. She is house-trained (she’ll let you know when she needs to go out) and is a “people dog” through and through. She can be a goofy girl who loves to play with squeaky toys and chew on bones. She will stand and give you full body hugs or flop over on the couch to give you “cuddles” that warm you from the inside out on a bad day.
Dezi’s Perfect Match:
Because she lived most of her life as the center of her mom’s world, she thrives when she receives undivided attention.
• Best as an Only Pet: Dezi may potentially find households with other pets stressful, specifically if they are not friendly with other dogs. We believe she would thrive as a one-and-only companion in a loving and calm environment. She does do well with companion dogs but they have to be really chill, easy to get along with as she did previously live with three other dogs as part of her “pack”.
• A Work-from-Home Partner: She loves her people deeply and would adore someone who is home often to give her the belly rubs she deserves.
• Secure Fencing is a Must: In true Pyr fashion, Dezi is an explorer! She needs a home with a secure, sturdy fence where she can patrol her yard safely.
Where Dezi Needs Extra Love:
* Quirks & Training: She has some separation anxiety, strongly dislikes crates, and is sometimes a sneaky counter-surfer! She is usually fine when left alone to roam the house when gone, but confinement can be a big point of anxiety for her. She will need a patient owner who understands the independent nature of the Great Pyrenees breed to help gently guide her and train her in these areas.
• Medical: Dezi needs her vaccines updated and needs to be spayed. Great news: A rescue partner has offered assistance, and we will provide a voucher to cover her spay surgery!
Reason for Rehoming: We inherited Dezi after her mommy, Heather, passed away. We tried to make it work in our house, but we have two other dogs and a newborn. Unfortunately, we cannot give her the care and attention she deserves. We are looking for a forever home for Dezi who can love on her the way her momma did.
