“Jenn Gonzalez is a behind-the-scenes volunteer who does so much to help us save lives! As a Rescue Admin, Jenn sifts through a wealth of data and photos to help us network shelter animals who we may not have a chance to visit with yet. She is quick to respond, never misses a beat, and her dedication has helped us cast a wider net and save lives that otherwise wouldn’t have been on our radar. She’s a perfect example of how a huge difference can be made from your own home!” -Elina D., DPA’s Rescue Director
Jenn is the prime example of how you can save lives just from the comfort of your own home. Read more about her below:
What is your current role?
I am formally a Rescue Coordinator, but I am more of a “Playgroup spreadsheet and transfer needs e-monitor”! I post all the playgroup dogs and notes, as well as dogs and cats in need of transfer because of behavioral or medical needs to our foster albums in hopes someone can take them in.
How did you get involved with volunteering at DPA?
I was wanting to help out in the rescue community for quite some time, but I didn’t know how to start. I saw an ad for a rescue coordinator posted on Volunteer Match and I immediately applied!
What are you most passionate about at DPA?
I love how dedicated everyone is to the cause. Everybody works so hard to help animals—even those that are difficult and needy. DPA! doesn’t give up and I admire that!
What are some words of wisdom to new DPA Volunteers?
Take time off when you need it. This is exhausting and never ending work. When things get difficult, take time off and come back strong. That’s the only way to keep helping homeless pets in the long run.
Give us a fun fact about you!
I have accumulated a house full of English Mastiffs, a Labrador with no tail, and a 3 legged cat. And I work from home (COVID or not)! It’s a year round circus at my house!
