Meet Markus Aurelius (New Digs)!

Markus Aurelius (aka Marky, Mr. Marky, Mr. Baby, Mr. Boy, Good Boy)
Meet Markus, named for one of the most respected Roman Emperors in history! The Best Dog in the World! Born on February 11, 2022, he is a healthy 70lbs of pure devotion and love; a three-year-old huggy-bear who is a perfect mix of being active and laid back. Originally adopted from a shelter at 7 weeks of age, his cute bio video was so popular that it is still available for viewing, and shelter workers still remember him. When Marky is not lying on his side at our feet, or being babied with a morning face wash from his much smaller older sister, he is sploot-sitting in the kitchen getting ready to take his pretend medicine (cheese nugget).

Marky is a perfect blend of active and relaxed. He enjoys exploring outdoors, doing zoomies, and is content to either lay in the sun or come back inside to relax. His favorite activity is just to be wherever his humans are. He sleeps indoors at night, in his own bed. He is not a barker, even when neighbor dogs are barking, he does not join in. He is calm being home alone. Has never been destructive. He has grown up with a large yard, but is content with a small one when he goes to the pet sitter. He has spent time with multiple other dogs and enjoys them all. He has always been good with our cats, never chases, often dozing in proximity with them. He does not beg for food nor has he ever shown any food aggression. He is an expert treat catcher though.

We have a large extended family who visit often and he is happy and comfortable with all adults and older children. We currently have construction on the property; he does not bark at or bother the workers. He follows basic commands like “sit,” “stay,” etc. He is afraid of fireworks. He once bit a recently acquired goat who stuck his head through a fence, but it was an isolated incident. He reacted to the goat scream, instinctively.

The reason for re-homing is a very sad one for us, and it is no fault of Markus. Family members with a two-year-old child are constructing a permanent home on the property. They have been living in our household for over a year now during the building process, and as the baby has grown, she has begun to grab and pull at Markus, causing him visible stress. So, thoughtful consideration for families with small children is recommended.

Markus is housebroken, chipped, neutered, incredibly handsome, up to date with vaccinations, and in perfect health. He is a pitty/bulldog/German shepherd mix confirmed by DNA. He will be a most wonderful addition to his future family! Apply today to adopt Markus!
