Meet Luke! He’s an energetic 4, almost 5 year old, sweet pup who loves to meet new people, get scratches, and chew on his toys. He’s a chonky boy at 321bs, and a mixed breed. He is black, with stubby little legs, and a white patch on his chest. Luke loves people, but he’s also protective of his humans from other dogs.
Luke was found from a Craigslist posting, he was the last pup of his litter(at about 6 months old), living with his mom & dad. He was only given to one family before us, but taken back because of some rumor of possible abuse, which we believe is a factor in his skiddish behavior at times.
Luke loves to present whatever’s in his path, whether it be a toy, a slipper, sock, etc, when you come home, greeting you with tail wags and kisses. He does live with a cat, but he can be grumpy from time to time. He is in need of some training on the leash, as he goes bananas when he sees other dogs, otherwise a good pup on the leash. He needs to be eased in to relationships with other dogs, but recently went to a doggy day care and was fine with the other dogs. He was trained to sit, lay down, and stay, but he can be stubborn at times, mainly because I don’t ask him enough. This guy likes to bark when he hears a potential threat outside, or car, but usually can be redirected.
Luke loves to cuddle, but isn’t a huge fan of super close contact face in face. He loves his routine of sleeping in my bed every night like clockwork, and also laying on the couch with us. When he rough plays, he doesn’t hold back with those play bites, so that’s something to watch out for, but he likes to get rowdy when prompted, and is fun to play around with.
We have 2 incidents where our daughter wasn’t respecting his space, and he
unfortunately reacted. Luke has been around other children and adores them, but absolutely can’t be left alone and must be monitored, since kids don’t understand space/ boundaries all the time. Luke is up to date on his vaccines and is microchipped, and also neutered.
He is a very sweet, loving doggo. He would love a family with preferably older children, or just adult owners. A backyard would be wonderful, but he’s lived the apartment life so either would work. I forgot to mention he is very good on car rides, and love sticking his head out the window.
Mister Luke would love to meet you! Apply today to meet this chonky dude.
