Meet Buffalo Wild Wing, now lovingly called Benny. His story began with a devastating accident while in a shelter foster home. A child was holding him when another dog jumped up, causing a severe degloving injury to his forearm. The damage was extensive, painful, and urgent. While his paw was still intact and there was hope for recovery, the level of care required was beyond what the shelter could provide. We knew his story deserved a different ending.
Once in Dallas Pets Alive!’s care, Benny began a long and delicate road to recovery. His treatment required time, consistency, and close medical oversight, but he was never alone. Because he needed to be bottle-fed every three hours, Benny spent much of his early recovery at the Adoption Container, where his foster worked. There, he became a familiar face and impossible not to love.
During those visits, a Community Beer staff member made a point to stop by and see Benny every single time. What started as small check-ins quickly turned into something more. She began fostering with DPA and even stepped in to care for him when his foster was away. By the end of that time, it was clear Benny had already found where he belonged.
She made it official and adopted him, giving him the forever home he had been waiting for. After everything he had endured, Benny’s story became one of second chances.
