Meet Scout I (New Digs)!

Meet Scout, our people-loving, lounge happy dog! She will turn 10 years old this year but is very young at heart. Scout is a beagle-cocker spaniel mix and weighs in at just under 24 pounds. She has a beautiful golden/tan color and is often complimented on her good looks from neighbors and passers by. We adopted Scout when she was about 3 years old (best age guess from shelter). We don’t have any history on her background prior to the shelter, but we do know she loves people, does well around kids as long as they aren’t poking and pulling at her, and is very content just lounging around in close distance to her human companions.

Scout is a semi-active mature dog who loves to run around the back yard chasing squirrels, followed by some relaxing sunbathing time. She gets bursts of energy and does a few zoomies when we return home for the evenings and enjoys the occasional dog treat (especially anything peanut butter flavored). Scout does not get along with other dogs or cats and would do best in a home where she is the only pet. She currently lives with our family of four, including two young boys ages 5 and 1. We are looking to find Scout a loving home where her companions are able to spend more time at the house with Scout.

Currently, both parents are working outside the home full time and we often have kid activities in the evenings and on weekends, making it difficult to provide Scout with ample outdoor time and bathroom breaks. We are also expecting a third child in September, and are worried the added noise and activity in the household will not be best suited for Scout. An ideal home for her would be one with no other pets, at least one person who is home most days or able to come home during the lunch hour or early afternoon to let Scout outside, and one with older kids or no kids at home. While Scout is kid friendly, she appreciates low key households and more relaxing time near her companions. She does like to get outside and let some energy out once or twice a day, but it’s a short bit of energy, maybe 10 minutes or so running around the yard.

Scout is house trained. She is one smart dog! She does have some skin allergies, which we treat with a monthly (4-6 weeks) Cytopoint shot. Alternatively, she can take Apoquel daily. We also feed her prescription Royal Canine dry dog food. She is healthy, happy, and up to date on vaccines.
