Meet the fun-loving Kai. He is a 2yr old ~55lb. Siberian Husky (possibly a mix), with the cutest ticking on his face and front legs and the most stunning blue eyes! He is a very friendly guy who loves to greet new friends with a classic husky hug and patrol the neighborhood for squirrels. He is up to date on all vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped.
We adopted Kai from our local shelter in Dec 2022. He had originally been picked up as a stray and adopted but was returned four months later. His previous owner reported Kai was stressed by children in the home so we’d want to make a match with kids thoughtfully. We have cats and his experience with them was unknown but his personality won us over and we decided to give him a chance. Unfortunately, he gets a little too excited by kitties which is why his family is looking to find him a new home.
Kai is a high-energy pup who loves to play tug, chase frisbees & balls, go on long walks, and run! He gets a little anxious when left alone and will usually sing the song of his people to let you know he misses you. He would likely do best as an only pet but he seems to get along with other dogs when toys and food are not involved. We would recommend a meet and greet/dog test before placing him in a home with another dog.
Kai likes to cuddle up with his humans on the couch and receive plenty of belly scratches. He would also prefer sleeping in bed with you at night as he does not like crates. An ideal home for Kai would be one with an experienced dog owner, a secure fenced backyard (at least 6ft tall), no small children or cats, and a parent who is home most of the day.
Kai is house-trained, knows how to “sit” and “lay”, and takes treats gently. He has made a lot of progress on leash walking and does best with a long line for more exploring opportunities! He is a very smart boy and like most huskies requires a bit more patience with training but if you have cheese, he is very eager to learn. He is working with a trainer and we’re excited to talk to you about tools for success. We can even recommend the trainer to help with any further goals you may have for him.
