Meet Sapphire 🐈⬛ She is blue/gray, (probably) domestic short hair, somewhere between 2 and 4 years old, and she is beautiful! I don’t know a lot about her history because I got her in mid-March from a person on Nextdoor who needed help with her and her kittens, but who has not been very communicative since then. What she did tell me about Sapphire is that she’d had her since kittenhood and that she was always an indoor cat (afraid to go outside), but someone put her out one time and she got pregnant. (The kittens are in foster care.) The former owner also told me that Sapphire had a hard time adjusting to a new apartment when they moved, and she had a similarly hard time adjusting to my home — which she is still doing. I’m sure Sapphire misses her old home and people, but they won’t take her back. 😢
Still, Sapphire is a curious and energetic girl who’s been exploring my home with fervor. Soon after I got her, she went into heat, and was by turns wanting lots of affection and hiding from me. Hormonal! She got spayed on April 3 and is a good deal calmer and much less vocal now, but she’s not yet allowing me to be too affectionate with her again. I have to be very patient and let her get accustomed to things, as will her new best friend (you!). I have two cats and a dog of my own, and Sapphire has hissed at the dog once, but has also just carefully walked by and seems to be building acceptance. My dog is very chill, so that vibe probably comes across. As for my cats, one of them is also quite chill and seems to want to get to know Sapphire. The second cat is more anxious and hisses at the “interloper,” but I predict Sapphire can ultimately peacefully coexist with other cats and dogs.
This dear kitty is deserving of the perfect furever home. Could it be with you? Apply to adopt Sapphire today!
