Meet Olive VI (New Digs)!

Say hello to the sweetest girl around, Olive VI! Olive is a 5 year old Boxer/Terrier Mix with a heart of gold, bounds of energy, and a curious spirit that will keep you laughing and on your toes! Olive was picked up by animal control when she was just 1 year old, roaming the streets of Fort Worth. They think she was a stray from birth, she had some anxiety with people at first and she was skin and bones! Things turned around fast for Miss Olive as she has been living the high life with me for the past 4 years going on car rides, hikes, travels and occasionally even joining me at the office!

Olive is one smart cookie, I have been amazed at how quickly she learns. I imagine that if you needed her to learn new commands, or even complex maneuvers, she would be your girl! At 5 years old she still has the energy of a young pup, so consistency and some good treats will be required. She knows sit, stay, down (lay down), paw (shake) and generally picks up on the vibe you are putting down for her, she’s a great listener (as long as there are no squirrels around!). Olive is house trained and crate trained (although she hasn’t been in a crate for years!).

Olive plays with my young nephews often, they love to chase each other around the yard and she’s always done quite well. When she’s around toddlers I pay extra attention as she gets so excited it’s easy for her to accidently knock someone over, but never with ill-intent. When it comes to other dogs, she loves to play with them too, but I have noticed that she doesn’t always get along with dominant females or dogs that may show aggression. For this reason I would say she either needs to be an only dog, have a dog brother, or have a dog sister that’s been properly introduced to ensure they get along well.

Olive is in fantastic health with no conditions to manage beyond her routine care. We have learned that she is allergic to poultry though, so it’s vital that any food is free of any poultry products–be careful, chicken hides in the ingredient list of so many dog foods! She will come with a healthy supply of the food that she does best with, it keeps her happy and healthy!

It’s a heartbreaking situation to be in for me right now, Olive is so loved, but due to changes in my job I am away from Texas 3 weeks per month and Olive needs a steady family presence, could it be you? Please apply today and don’t hesitate to ask any questions, Olive is a special girl and deserves a special home!
