Hi, my name is Buddy! I am a Great Pyrenees/Labrador mix, and I am approximately four years old. I’m strong and healthy, weighing 85 lbs. My current family adopted me one year ago from Dallas Animal Services.
I may look like an incredibly handsome Lab on the outside, but I am all Pyrenees on the inside! True to the breed, when I’m with my people, I am low maintenance and enjoy laying around the house or outside. Don’t get me wrong, I love going on daily walks and weekend trips to the dog park – I get along well with other dogs, not sure how I feel about cats. I like sleeping inside and will sleep in your bed and cuddle if you’ll let me.
Like any self-respecting Pyrenees, I take guarding my family seriously. In my current home, I live with two teenagers who have friends coming and going all the time. Sometimes I worry they might be a threat. Because I’m so big, I might scare someone when I’m guarding. When I’m not at my house, I’m not as protective and welcome petting and pats on the head. I’m looking for a low stress home with one or two adults – experience with my breed would be even better! I’m a great companion, especially when I don’t have to worry about others threatening my stuff, my people, or my home.
I am house trained and great on a leash. I also know basic commands, like sit, stay and come (although I should warn you, if I get the chance to roam the neighborhood off my leash, I have very selective hearing and will gladly go on a joy run until I get tired). I enjoy car rides and dog treats, but I’m not fond of swimming. I’m also not a fan of lightning, thunder or loud motorcycles or trucks. I’m neutered and up to date on all my vaccines.
