The number of animals we can save at Dallas Pets Alive depends entirely on the number of people who can open their homes and hearts to foster them. 2022 was a year of growth and new adventures for our organization. In 2022, Leslie’s Wishlist emerged as an innovative initiative, alongside Spot Tagging, aimed at alleviating the overcrowding challenges faced by our primary shelter partner.
“Dallas Animal Services has been one of our most important shelter partners since Dallas Pets Alive’s inception in 2012. We want to help DAS in whatever way possible so the animals that enter the shelter doors have the best possible opportunity for a positive outcome,” said Leslie Sans, Founder and Executive Director of Dallas Pets Alive.
Leslie takes a stroll through the shelter, visiting each dog and cat kennel to identify a diverse range of pets for potential networking with Dallas Pets Alive fosters.
Continuing lifesaving initiatives in 2023, Leslie remains dedicated to connecting shelter animals with compassionate foster homes and furthering the mission of Dallas Pets Alive. We are excited to announce our latest partnership with prominent animal rescue organizations, coming together to address the challenges of overcrowded conditions.
Dallas Pets Alive, Operation Kindness, Rockwall Pets, and Hearts & Bones have united to form a partnership to transform animal welfare in Dallas. These four organizations account for 50% of all the dogs and cats transferred from DAS this fiscal year. Of the 2,307 dogs and cats transferred from Dallas since October 1, 2022, 1,277 have found rescue with the four leading rescue organizations.
“Collaboration is essential to lifesaving, so DPA is thrilled to work with other amazing, like-minded rescue partners to help shelter pets receive a change at a loving home! – Leslie, Founder and Director of Dallas Pets Alive.
Check out dogs and cats in need of foster homes and join us this Saturday, October 7 from 11am to 3pm. We will be at @dallasanimalservices (1818 N Westmoreland Rd) to help pets find foster homes. Are you ready to foster? At Dallas Pets Alive, we are finding ways to make fostering more convenient, and provide additional rewards to fosters for their efforts. Investing in our fosters helps us save more lives in North Texas.
The Foster + program provides increased supplies availability for grooming and supplies shipped to your door, foster referral bonuses, pet deposit reimbursement, 5 for $500 for canine shelter tags, grooming assistance, CIV vaccines for resident pets, GoodPup Behavior Training Scholarship for every foster dog, and Snyft rides for foster animals.
