DALLAS, TEXAS (January 22, 2025) – Dallas Pets Alive! (DPA!) is thrilled to announce a transformational
merger with The Humane Society of Dallas County, (HSDC), marking a significant milestone in the North
Texas animal welfare landscape. By bringing HSDC under the DPA umbrella, this merger represents more
than a collaboration – it’s the unification of two steadfast organizations committed to revolutionizing
animal rescue efforts in North Texas.
This merger not only enhances DPA’s capacity to save lives but also provides new opportunities for
community engagement. For the first time, DPA will have access to traditional shelter space, enabling
hands-on volunteer experiences for animal lovers. Together, DPA and HSDC can optimize rescue
initiatives, streamline operations and expand our ability to connect with the community and foster a
deeper commitment to our life saving missions.
The Humane Society of Dallas County has been a cornerstone of the Dallas community for over 40 years,
embodying a steadfast commitment to the no-kill philosophy and providing compassionate care for
animals until they find their forever homes.
Current HSDC volunteer and DPA Board Member, Angie Spears shares, “I am thrilled about the merger
between Dallas Pets Alive and the Humane Society of Dallas County! This partnership marks an
incredible step forward in uniting our efforts to save more animals and provide them with loving homes.
Together, we can make an even greater impact on the lives of animals and their families in our
community.”
“At DPA, we believe that joining forces with like-minded organizations isn’t just a partnership—it’s a
powerful movement for change, ” said Leslie Sans, DPA Founder & Executive Director. “By combining our
resources and expertise, we’re not just helping our organizations thrive; together we’re saving more
lives, building stronger support systems, and making a lasting impact for animals in need.”
To celebrate this pivotal moment, DPA! will host a community event at HSDC on March 1st from
10:00a.m. – 12:00p.m.. This event will feature foster and adoption opportunities, and a chance to learn
more about the exciting future of the merged organizations. Additionally, as part of this new chapter we
will be seeking a passionate leader in the animal welfare industry to join as the Shelter Director at HSDC.

This collaboration marks a significant step forward in the shared mission of transforming lives and
building a brighter future for animals and their families across North Texas.
