Jon and Kelsey Ray are a DPA power couple and step up anytime there is a need. They help run our Adoption Team- Jon is our Lead Adoption Counselor and Kelsey is our Adoptline Lead. In addition, Kelsey helps coordinate events and serves on the Alumni Team. They have 2 DPA Alumni of their own! We don’t know what we’d do without them!” -Stacey D., DPA!’s Adoption Director

Kelsey:

What is your current role?

I am Lead Adoptline Volunteer, RSVP Coordinator for Events, and Happy Tails Coordinator for the Alumni Team.

How did you get involved with volunteering at DPA?

After we adopted our second DPA dog, my husband and I started volunteering on adoptline so that we could give back to the organization that has given us so much.

What are you most passionate about at DPA?

I am most passionate about helping animals find their forever homes so they can be as happy as we are with our two DPA alumni dogs.

What are some words of wisdom to new DPA Volunteers?

My advice would be to remember that each position is valuable to the overall goal to our mission of saving lives and that any amount of time you have to give is worth it.

Give us a fun fact about you!

I did not grow up around animals, but I knew that it was basically in my wedding vows to get a dog. My husband found the perfect dog from Dallas Pets Alive (Sheriff) and she made me fall in love with dogs.

Jon:

What is your current role?

I am the Lead Adoption Counselor.

The foster of our second DPA alumni dog, Ranger, recommended that we try volunteering.

What are you most passionate about at DPA?

I am most passionate about matching animals and families for the perfect fit.

What are some words of wisdom to new DPA Volunteers?

Use your passions and take on as much as you are able to do so you can help save more animals.

Give us a fun fact about you!

In my 10 year career as a detention officer, I have never called in or taken a sick day. (Yes, even though I had the flu once…still came in!)
