Tucked away in the heart of the Adoption Container at Community Beer Co is Dallas Pets Alive’s newly launched Snuggle Spot which offers a cozy, peaceful retreat where our adoptable cats and kittens can mingle, cuddle, play, and maybe even form a love-at-first-purr connection with potential adopters.
The Snuggle Spot is open Thursday through Saturday from 12:15 to 4:45 pm and is run entirely by DPA! volunteers. Admission is free and on a first come, first served basis.
We like to keep things cozy inside the Snuggle Spot so our felines aren’t overwhelmed and so any potential adopters can get quality time with our kitties and find the one (or ones!) who are purr-fect for them. To maintain this relaxed atmosphere, we limit the room to three to four visitors at a time. Children are welcome but we do ask that they are accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
If the room is at capacity when you visit, please feel free to grab a cold drink or a tasty bite from CBC while you wait for a spot to open up.
Encouraging Safe and Positive Interactions with Cats
The Snuggle Spot is all about quality time, quality interactions, and of course safety for our adoptable cats, as well as our visitors. Staff is always on hand to facilitate introductions and to make sure both cats and cat lovers all have a great experience.
Making the most of your time in the Snuggle Spot
When inside the Snuggle Spot, visitors should speak softly and move slowly, although we cannot guarantee the kitties will do the same, especially the kittens with those endlessly entertaining kitten zoomies! We also like to let the cats make the first move in any introductions. Sometimes they play hard to get, and that is ok! As any cat lover knows, it’s all part of their charm.
We also ask that our guests do not pick up the cats unless the DPA volunteer gives the thumbs-up. To ensure a pleasant interaction, we let our shy cats have their space so that they have the time they need to warm up. Some of our cats prefer hugs, others prefer high fives, or sometimes some friendly chatter first. Only when the cats are comfortable can our visitors get a true sense of each cat’s distinct personality. With these steps, you’ll help the felines feel safe and ready to show off their true personalities—whether that’s a cuddle buddy, aloof admirer, or somewhere in between.
There are plenty of ways in the Snuggle Spot to interact with the cats and we encourage our visitors to use the provided teasers and toys instead of their hands. We want to keep accidental scratches to a minimum and help you save your fingers for taking and sharing those adorable cat selfies or completing an adoption application!
The Adoption Process: Bringing Fur-baby Home
When one of our visitors falls head over heels for one of our felines, we make it easy to make it official! Just scan the QR code posted in the Snuggle Spot and fill out our adoption application online. A DPA team member will then text you the adoption contract and donation link. Spayed and neutered cats and kittens can go home that same day. We can even provide a cardboard carrier. We are not able to hold animals, so if you fall in love, be ready to take your new fur baby home!
All DPA! cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready for a new beginning. Adoption donation fees are $100 for adult cats and $150 for kittens
