“There sure is something about Mary! It’s that she’s AMAZING! Mary has always been one of those superstar fosters, but now she’s taken it to the next level and has joined our volunteer force as an Intake Admin.
What’s an Intake Admin? Well, essentially she is the first line of communication when a new foster is brought into our program. First impressions are so important and that email is what got me to think DPA was the most legit rescue ever!
Mary is so active and supportive in our foster community and even has two currently herself, Lulu and Kade! You’d be hard pressed to find anyone not rave about Mary. She’s truly a special part of our pack.” -Danica B. DPA!’s Foster Director
That’s some of the many reasons why Mary White is a DPA Pawsome Person! Learn more about her below:
What is your current role?
Foster Mom, Intake Admin, Support Squad Team, RAD and Rescue Teams.
How did you get involved with volunteering at DPA?
My youngest son follows DPA on Facebook and saw an “Urgent Foster Needed” post and sent it to me asking me to do it for his upcoming birthday. Hubby agreed to fostering and a few days later we had Parker our first DPA foster pup.
What are you most passionate about at DPA?
I love fostering the most – big, small, young and old dogs. I especially love fostering scared and timid dogs and with a little TLC they blossom into well-rounded, awesome pets.
What are some words of wisdom to new DPA Volunteers?
That you have a tremendous support team available to help you in your fostering journey – the ultimate goal for our foster animals is to eventually say “goodbye” and we know how difficult that can sometimes be. Join the Facebook Foster support page and ask questions, share your joys and pains of fostering. You’ll be surprised at how much you will learn about yourself and fostering.
Give us a fun fact about you!
That fostering brings me joy and has made me a better person. I’ve permanent fostered 12 dogs and temporary fostered 6 more – each foster has been a new adventure and a family effort.
