Meet Shadow VIII (New Digs)!

Meet Shadow, our sweet and silly 4-year-old German Shepherd who has mastered the art of being both your shadow and your sunshine! Weighing in at 94 lbs, Shadow has a sleek black coat, expressive eyes, and a heart full of love. He’s known in our home for his adorable habit of lounging nearby while we work, always keeping an eye on things but never being a bother. We’ve had the joy of raising him since he was a puppy, and he’s grown into a gentle, loyal companion—especially wonderful with children. Shadow is up to date on all vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, and fully house-trained. He’s healthy and ready to bring joy, security, and affection to a new family who can give him the time and love he deserves.

Shadow is a playful and affectionate dog with a medium energy level—he loves bursts of activity but is just as happy lounging around and being near his people. His favorite activities include playing fetch, running around in the yard, and soaking up attention from anyone willing to give him belly rubs. Shadow is fantastic with children, especially gentle and patient with our toddler. He also does well with other dogs after a proper introduction. While he hasn’t been around cats, his calm temperament suggests he may adjust with time and supervision. Shadow would thrive in a home with a yard to run and play, or with an active owner who can take him on regular walks. He loves being part of the family and enjoys being nearby—whether that means laying at your feet while you work or following you around the house just to be close. He’s a true cuddle bug at heart and lives for praise and affection.

Shadow is fully house-trained and leash-trained, and he’s a very smart dog who responds well to commands like sit, stay, paw, and come. He’s attentive and eager to please, which makes training easy and enjoyable. Shadow is not crate-trained, but he’s trustworthy when left alone indoors and respects boundaries. An ideal home for him would be one where he has room to move around—either a yard or an owner who can provide regular walks and stimulation. While it breaks our hearts to rehome him, we’ve recently learned that our toddler has autism and other developmental needs that require significant time, energy, and medical attention. With an upcoming move and increased care responsibilities, we know we can no longer provide Shadow the time and environment he truly deserves.

Shadow is a loyal, loving, and gentle companion with so much affection to give. He’s great with kids, loves being around people, and will quickly become your best friend and loyal protector. Apply to adopt Shadow today!
