Kane III is a closeted lover with a dorky personality. I got him in August and he was absolutely terrified of everything. He would not leave the corner of the living room, always trying to put himself in the smallest spaces and lay against walls.
Once I brought my first/original dog back from Wisconsin, his personality really blossomed. He learned how to be a dog – play with toys, chew bones, and play with a ball. He did not do any of these things previously. He loves to lay close to you when it is on his own terms and loves to lay on pillows. He loved to play with my small dog until he got protective.
Kane is a lover and deserves better than the life I can give him, keeping him separate from the other dog and having to really limit playing and toys. I have not seen him around children, but I would assume it would be good since he is fine when I take bones and food away from him.
The background I have for him is that he was adopted from the same shelter he was found as a puppy. 7 years later he was dropped off as a “stray” and the original owner ignored all attempts of contact made by the shelter. He was dropped off with no information – including no name. He was terrified of everything and everyone. He clearly had a very tough life before and I just want him to have a loving and happy life now. He deserves to be happy, it’s not his fault that he was abused so severely and responds the way he does when he feels threatened.
