Say hello to Charley! Big ears, bigger heart. She was adopted from a shelter at 4 months old and they said she was a Boston Terrier mix. She has a beautiful brindle coat with white socks and belly. She is 6 now and weighs just over 20 pounds. While we love her dearly, we recently welcomed a daughter and are seeing that Charley would prefer to be an “only child”. She is a cuddle bug to the core and would love a mom/dad that lets her snuggle in bed or on the couch.
Charley is very fit and healthy. While she is happy to be a couch potato, she is also a great companion for longer walks (3+ miles). She spends most of her days sitting in her chair while we work from home, happy as a clam to just be near us. She does well on a leash but will get excited by bikes and dogs. Charley is a protective little girl, and she will be vocal when she is unsure of new people, but she gets comfortable quickly. She is cautious of children that may not be gentle with her, but she is good about keeping her distance if she is afraid. She has a fur-sister as well, but would prefer to be the only pet in a home.
Charley is crate trained with the command “go to bed” or “bedtime”, though she is only crated when home alone for more than an hour. She sleeps in either a dog bed or her big chair at night. The only exception is during storms, during which she gets scared and sleeps at our feet. She also knows “sit” and “down”.
While Charley can be a little nervous with new people and new situations, she is the most affectionate little lady once she is comfortable. We are hopeful that somebody has the patience to let her warm up and become her new best friend. As her owner of 6 years I am sad to rehome her, but I know that she will thrive in a home that can give her more attention as our family grows. Hopefully, once you see her big eyes you will see the potential of a wonderful dog.
