Buckthorn, named for a hardy native shrub that does NOT actually have thorns, is living up to his name. Affectionately called Bucky, this sweet boy embodies resilience and tenacity. Bucky was found as an injured stray when he limped up to some kind strangers one day for help. They took him to the shelter so he could be treated, but his leg couldn’t be saved.
A badly broken bone, a serious infection, and two surgeries later, Bucky is finally on the mend. He’s adjusting well to life on three legs. Though he’s been through a lot, he never stopped being his sweet, gentle self. He even allowed his foster to give him medication multiple times a day… with only a little bit of disgruntled protest!
Bucky spent the first few weeks in our care resting and recovering, but he’s finally starting to show his true purrsonality. He’s exceptionally treat motivated and very clever, so his foster has been training him to do silly tricks, like give high fives! He likes feather wands and a good old catnip mousie. He’s soft as a cloud, purrs like a classic car, and even likes a little belly rub. Bucky is pretty laid back, but since he’s only around two years old, he still has bursts of playful energy. He’s happiest with his human nearby (especially if they’re feeding him snacks!)
Bucky is almost all healed up and ready to start the next chapter of his life as a spoiled, three-legged house cat. If you have an opening for a skilled biscuit maker, Buckthorn is ready for his interview!
