Buckthorn, named for a hardy native shrub that does NOT actually have thorns, is living up to his name. Affectionately called Bucky, this sweet boy embodies resilience and tenacity. Bucky was found as an injured stray when he limped up to some kind strangers one day for help. They took him to the shelter so he could be treated, but his leg couldn’t be saved.
A badly broken bone, a serious infection, and two surgeries later, Bucky is finally on the mend. He’s adjusting well to life on three legs. Though he’s been through a lot, he never stopped being his sweet, gentle self. He even allows his foster to give him medication multiple times a day… with only a little bit of disgruntled protest!
Bucky has spent most of his time in our care so far resting and recovering, so we’re still learning about his personality, but one thing is for sure: this guy is a purrfessional baker! In between meals and naps you’ll find him hard at work at Bucky’s Biscuit Factory. He’s soft as a cloud, purrs like a classic car, and even likes a little belly rub.
Bucky is almost all healed up and ready to start the next chapter of his life as a spoiled, three-legged house cat. If you have an opening for a skilled biscuit maker, Buckthorn is ready for his interview!
