DPA’s Pawsome People: September 2022 Volunteer Spotlight

The Pawsome Person Program recognizes some of the amazing volunteers & fosters who support our organization and companion animals in North Texas.

“DPA events and Meghan go hand in hand. Meghan says she’s only an event assistant director but she steps up almost anytime there’s a need and takes the lead. She genuinely cares about presenting DPA well and making sure that the volunteers and fosters are taken care of. Those are examples of the responses we get when we ask about Meghan D.. She’s always quick to save the day whether as a temporary foster, event volunteer or as a friend. She loves animals of all kinds and doesn’t fear the “hard stuff”. She is caring, compassionate with how she treats both animals and the humans at the other end of the leash. She is one of our most tenured and treasured volunteers! And don’t be fooled by how quiet she is. You need to get to know her to discover her wicked sense of humor. Meghan is a perfectly Pawsome member of the DPA Family!” -Pat R., DPA’s Development Director

DPA! PAWSOME PEOPLE: Meghan D. is DPA! PAWSOME PERSON! We couldn’t have said it better than Pat. Meghan’s caring work helps our events run smoothly, while making sure animals and our volunteers feel cared for. Read more about her work here:

What is your current role?

Assistant Director of Events

How did you get involved with volunteering at DPA?

I was looking for a rescue to get involved with and stumbled upon DPA based on an internet search. At the time, I had my dog for several years and, since I loved her so much, decided that I wanted to help other people find their best friends.

What are you most passionate about at DPA?

Engaging with the community at our events to promote adoption.

What are some words of wisdom to new DPA Volunteers?

Know your limits when volunteering for an animal rescue organization and stick to them.  Whatever way you choose to volunteer with us is a way to save animals. Also, in whatever way you volunteer, come out to our events and meet other volunteers if you can.  It’s so much more fun if you can make friends in the org and stay engaged.

Give us a fun fact about you!

I love to travel and will take just about any opportunity to travel somewhere. I need more stamps in my passport.
