What is your current role?
I am an adoption counselor for Dallas Pets Alive! My role includes reviewing applications from potential adopters, connecting fosters and applicants and processing adoption contracts when people choose to adopt from us.
How did you get involved with volunteering at DPA?
Stacey Glauben, our adoption director, has been a close friend of mine since high school! We went to school together in Las Vegas. Stacey moved to Dallas after school, but we were able to stay in touch through a volunteer opportunity that she posted requesting for volunteers to help with Dallas Pets Alive! I started volunteering once a week responding to inquiry emails then worked my way to an adoption counselor.
What are you most passionate about at DPA?
Everyone’s commitment, flexibility, communication and care for the animals! Even though many of us volunteer online and out of state, we are a tight knit community. When I visited Dallas back in October, I was able to meet many people in person at DPA’s Gala and it was like we had been friends forever.
What are some words of wisdom to new DPA Volunteers?
No matter what your role, you are important! Everyone is an integral part of the team and we could not function without the passion of our volunteers. DPA is a rewarding community to be a part of and everyone here will make you feel welcomed.
Give us a fun fact about you!
My job title is Dolphin Care Specialist! I live in Las Vegas and work at the Mirage Dolphin Habitat caring for the 10 dolphins that live there. We do extensive amounts of training, research, educational programs and an extreme amount of cleaning!
