In our first post you got a taste of who Candice is and a little preview of what being a DPA! Board Member is all about. To learn more about Candice, visit our last post.
The DPA! board members are the fiduciaries who steer the organization towards a sustainable future by adopting sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial management policies, as well as by making sure the nonprofit has adequate resources to advance its mission. They are highly involved in long-term strategic planning for DPA to ensure its sustainability.
Candice says it best in her response to the following questions below:
If you could offer advice to someone that may want to serve on a board or become involved with a non-profit at this level, what would that be?
Make sure to find an organization aligned to your personal passion and experience, as it takes a lot of time and personal effort to fit into an already full life.
Why were you drawn to serving as a board member for DPA?
I have extensive non-profit board experience that I thought could be helpful to an organization like DPA that is young and growing/maturing. DPA in particular appealed to me because our two dogs, Jack and Ralphie were rescued by and adopted from DPA.
