DPA’s Pawsome People: March 2021 Volunteer Spotlight

Junel B. DPA's March 2021 Pawsome Person

“Junel brings a welcome sense of pride, gratitude, and curiosity to all of her interactions with our team. Her emails brighten my day each time I receive them, a precious thing on our team since we handle difficult decisions and conditions every day. She is currently our most distant volunteer to Dallas, but you can clearly see and feel the love she puts into her work for our team, our animals, and our mission. Junel brings a growth mindset to learning and is always striving to improve her work. As we approach her 1 year anniversary with our team, it is my hope that this is only the first of many anniversaries to come.” -Bridget H., DPA’s Assistant Medical Director

Junel brings joy to the Medical Team and everyone she interacts with. Read more about her below:

What is your current role?

My current role is as a Records Administrator.

How did you get involved with volunteering at DPA?

I got involved with DPA! through VolunteerMatch.

What are you most passionate about at DPA?

I am most passionate about helping rescue animals through updating their medical records and any other way to help them find their forever homes.

What are some words of wisdom to new DPA Volunteers?

My words of wisdom for the new DPA! Volunteers would be to give yourself the expectation of gradual progression. For me, I’m a little quiet and shy, but progress takes time. As you grow into your position, those around you will respond positively to your growth.

Give us a fun fact about you!

A fun fact about me is that I’m a nerd and I love to learn. And now that I’m more mature I can appreciate that side of me. My ‘nerdiness’, if that is a word, works for me, as I get more comfortable in my own skin. I mean, my love of learning led me to learn the Spanish language and to continue to strive for growth.
