12 Years Of Saving Animal and Human Lives Every Day
Since 2012, DPA! and its mostly volunteer based team have touched the lives of more than 31,000 companion pets and their humans. By encouraging pet adoption and offering alternatives to shelter surrender, DPA! is making a meaningful impact for pets and animals in our community.
12 Years of Innovative Programs
PASS (Positive Alternatives to Shelter Surrender), Dogs Matter, the BARK Dorm, the award winning Adoption Container powered by CUDDLY, along with more our traditional adoption and foster programs, have led the way in North Texas for happy and healthy pets and people.
Through the PASS program alone, DPA has assisted 22,299 pet owners and kept 3,168 companion animals out of overcrowded shelters where they are at high risk for euthanization. In conjunction with PASS and Dogs Matter, The BARK Dorm at the Gainesville State School has positively impacted dogs, pet owners, and the young men enrolled there by proving again and again the comeback is always greater than the setback. By providing temporary shelter for dogs whose owners are struggling to teaching important life skills like responsibility, compassion and teamwork to young men in need of a second chance, the BARK Dorm changes lives every day.
12 Years of Life-Saving Surgeries and Urgent Medical Treatments
DPA! doesn’t turn away from adoptable pets suffering from treatable yet sometimes overwhelming medical issues. By working with our veterinary partners in the community, DPA! has written countless happy endings for deserving dogs and cats who would otherwise be deemed unsaveable. Over a third of the animals we help are considered “major medical cases” and require $1,000 or more in medical treatment. In 2023 alone, DPA!’s medical expenses topped in excess of $400,000 and included everything from basic vaccinations and heartworm treatments to all manner of life-saving procedures.

We currently have more than 500 animals enrolled in our programs who are relying on us for food, shelter, and medical care and these financial demands have sadly outpaced our resources.
