Meet Beau IV (New Digs)!

Meet Beau – a sweet, serious soul.

Beau is a 7-year-old, 65-pound Lab mix with a black and white speckled coat. He’s been with me since he was about two months old. He was found on the streets and picked up by the Dallas Animal Shelter, and I adopted him from there. He’s always been a really chill, reserved dog. He’s not the kind to follow you around the house all day, but he’s usually nearby laying under a desk or in his bed. He likes pets and cuddles, especially when he’s feeling comfy, but he’s very independent and isn’t an ‘in your face’ kind of guy.

He’s up to date on everything—shots, preventatives, you name it. The main thing with Beau is his health. He has seasonal allergies that flare up sometimes, and he’s had stomach issues for a few years now. I’m not totally sure what’s causing them—could be food sensitivities, allergies, something else. Right now he eats Stella & Chewy’s food, and it helps, but it’s still a bit of a work in progress. I’ve tried to be really honest about this with anyone interested because I want him to go to someone who’s willing to help him feel better and not just get frustrated.

He’s low energy most of the time, but still has his playful moments
Beau is a social chameleon, he can read the room and adapt to it. When the vibe is chill you can find him lounging around, but if someone gets excited and playful, he does the same. He really lights up around water—he loves splashing in a little puddle or kiddie pool. He’s good with other dogs, good with cats, and good with kids. He has a really gentle temperament overall. I think he’d do best in a home with a yard or with someone who can take him out at least 3 times a day, but more than anything, he just needs someone patient and understanding who’s down to go on this health journey with him.

He’s crate trained, housebroken, and knows how to sit
He walks fine on a leash, though he does pull a little when he gets excited. He’s not super trained, but he’s well-mannered and sweet. He understands boundaries—he’s not one of those dogs who’s constantly in your face, but if you give him love, he gives it back in his own quiet way.

Why I’m rehoming him
I’ve had Beau for seven years, and I love him so much. But trying to figure out what’s going on with his stomach has been emotionally draining. For the past few years especially, it’s been a constant source of stress and guilt—feeling like I’m not doing enough, not knowing where to start, and just feeling really overwhelmed. I want him to go to someone who’s not in survival mode the way I’ve been, someone who can focus and really get to the root of his health issues.

Beau is such a good boy. He deserves someone who’s going to love him, take care of him, and help him feel his best. If you think you could be that person, apply to adopt Beau today.
