It’s “National Love Your Pet Day” 365 Days A Year At DPA!

National Love Your Pet Day

At Dallas Pets Alive!, we could not let “National Love Your Pet Day” pass us by without acknowledging a day that is really at the crux of what we are about and what we do on all the other 364 days each and every year.

Today we thought we might share some of the happy faces of our adorable foster pets who were recently adopted and now have become the pets of some wonderful folks who might just celebrate “National Love Your Pet Day” and hashtag their fur babies across their socials today.

Always “National Love Your Pet Day” Around Here

We love our family pets and our foster pets EVERY day of the year. We love finding and rescuing all those furry souls from Dallas area shelters. We love getting to know all about them and writing up bios and photographing them for our website. We love showcasing our adoptable pets during events at the Container at Community Beer Co . We love answering your inquiries when you think you see your future companion on our website. We love to celebrate all the quick and easy adoptions and the more difficult ones that take a little time, too.

We love to nurture our puppies and kittens and help them find loving homes to thrive and grow in and also love placing our senior pets in homes where they can live out the remainder of their days peacefully. We love to hear from our adoptive families and get those happy updates on what our alums are up to and how they are doing. We love to celebrate “National Love Your Pets Day” everyday.

Fostering Equals Found Time

The volunteers who love your pet just before you do are so important. The time our adoptable animals spend with our amazing volunteer fosters not just about pet sitting and meeting the animals’ daily needs. That time is critical. That time is found time. Time that gives an animal another day, another week, another chapter, another chance at finding a forever home where they will be loved and cherished.

We also love pets that will never be under our direct care. Through our PASS (Positive Alternatives to Shelter Surrender) Program, we help arrange short-term pet care when needed to bridge a difficult personal situation.  We make connections to low cost food pantries and veterinary care when the bills are just too high. We offer training to correct behavioral issues and low cost vaccinations and spay and neuter programs.

All of these services are provided with one thing in mind…to keep the pets you love to love under your roof. When there is absolutely no other option, our PASS Program can help rehome a pet directly to a new loving home through New Digs, completely by-passing a risky shelter surrender and stay.

All of these good works and second chances are made possible by the generosity of our community. We rely on financial support to fund these efforts and even more so on our volunteer fosters who might just be housing the pet you will celebrate in 2026 on “National Love Your Pet Day.”

Think You Might Want to Help?

We are always looking for new and enthusiastic foster volunteers to help save even more homeless pets. If you would like to know more about our Foster Program and how you can save lives, please click here and let us know.

Simply put, our mission is to promote and provide the resources, education, and programs needed to eliminate the killing of companion animals in North Texas. We do this by promoting animal rescue and adoption as not only the right things to do, but THE things to do.

No better way to celebrate “National Love Your Pet Day” than that…today, tomorrow, and every day after that.
