Aldo (New Digs)

Age: Adult
Breed: Shepherd
Gender: Male

Meet Aldo (New Digs)!

This is Aldo! He is a handsome and loving 5-year-old shepherd mix (we are not sure his mix, but it’s been suggested both Beauceron and Belgian Malinois from the groomer and dog park friends based on his look and demeanor). Aldo is microchipped and up to date on all his vaccinations and preventatives.

We initially adopted him about 3 years ago from a no-kill shelter in East Dallas, a week before we found out we were pregnant with our firstborn! Needless to say, all of our best-laid plans for training and exercise were quickly derailed. We recently welcomed our second son and unfortunately, we’re having a difficult time giving him the attention and exercise he needs and deserves. As much as it hurts to do so, we have made the difficult decision to rehome our pup.

Aldo is a happy, energetic, and playful mutt but can be a little vocal at times. He is good at warning us when someone approaches the house or when that pesky backyard squirrel is tormenting him from its perch in the tree. Aldo gets along great with other dogs at the dog park and at doggie day camp. He does not have any experience with cats or other small animals (other than a backyard chicken-probably not a good idea).

Aldo is absolutely wonderful with our two sons. He has been so very patient and gentle around them. He just loves cuddling up to everyone at the end of a long day and never gets his fill of pats on the head. He follows us everywhere we go and just wants to be a part of the family.

Aldo is house-trained and knows basic commands like sit and wait. He is very smart and would benefit from some consistent training. For a little while he would nudge the bells on the door when he needed to go out (it’s our own fault that we didn’t keep up with it). Aldo absolutely LOVES playing fetch with his bright orange ball, going to dog parks, doggie day camp, and on hikes and runs. We occasionally will spoil him with a pup cup from Starbucks or these little frozen doggie ice cream treats from Tom Thumb. Aldo does have a sensitive tummy though and needs a limited ingredient dog food. Be sure to keep the special treats to a minimum or he will gas you right out of the room.

Aldo would do best with someone who has the time and patience to train him and someone who wants a constant companion. We think he would be perfect for an outdoorsy bachelor/bachelorette who wants a travel buddy or an active family with older kids who can run around the yard with him and take him to the park.

Aldo is an incredibly sweet and loving dog. If you think he’d make a great addition to your family, please apply to adopt him today!
