Honor for Hero’s Heart

If you cross paths with a heartworm poster at a vet’s office you’ll know that you would do anything to avoid this pain for your pet. A heartworm is a roundworm that can grow to be twelve inches long that lives in your pet’s heart and can cause fatal side effects, even after they are removed. Heartworms are spread through a mosquito bite and if left untreated the heartworms can accumulate into the hundreds inside a pet’s body. Every state in the US has mosquitoes therefore every pet is at risk.
DPA!’s Pawesome Person: October Foster Spotlight

Nicole has been an amazing volunteer and foster with DPA. She decided to get more involved on the backend after fostering with us for a while. She serves as a foster representative and foster application vetter and excels in both roles. Due to her background, she is able to provide honest, considerate and compassionate advice to those interested in fostering, or currently in the process of fostering. No problem is too big and she will work tirelessly to find the answer. The foster team is so lucky to have her on board!
