Dallas Pets Alive! Volunteer Agreement

I, , make the following statements and voluntarily enter into this Volunteer Agreement (hereinafter “Agreement”) to provide volunteering services for Dallas Pets Alive! (hereinafter “DPA”).
Please initial:
1. I understand the continued success of DPA depends on the quality, integrity, expertise, and professionalism of all who represent DPA in any capacity. The public and fellow volunteers should be treated with respect, deference, tact, and courtesy. Profanity or derogatory language should not be used in public, with other volunteers, or in written communications. Discrimination or harassment in any way, shape, or form will not be tolerated.
2. I agree to volunteer with DPA for the agreed-upon amount of time listed in the job description. If I have a conflict or am unable to fulfill my duties due to unforeseen circumstances, I understand that it is my responsibility to discuss this with my supervisor in advance of separating from volunteering.
3. I agree to be supervised by a DPA Director or designee and will work as a team member with all volunteers.
4. I agree that as a volunteer for DPA, I assume all risks of loss or injury, including death to myself or damage to my property while on the property of DPA and elsewhere while participating in the volunteer program.
5. I understand that all volunteers must attend a virtual orientation session within 60 days of applying.
6. I understand I am required to report involvement with other rescue organizations to volunteer@dallaspetsalive.org. To avoid a conflict of interest, DPA asks that I focus my time and efforts on one rescue organization at a time. I agree that if I have questions about this policy or a special circumstance for consideration, I will email volunteer@dallaspetsalive.org.
7. I understand that to volunteer in virtual roles, volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. To volunteer at DPA events and/or in person, volunteers must be 17 years of age or older. Individuals under the age of 17 years will require a parent/guardian to attend all volunteer activities with the minor, including completing the volunteer application and attending orientation. For special requests or circumstances for volunteers 16 years of age or younger (e.g., school groups, scouts, etc.), I understand that I should email volunteer@dallaspetsalive.org.
8. I understand that I will not be an employee of DPA and that all services performed by me will be strictly on a voluntary basis. I will receive no remuneration, pay, or compensation of any kind from DPA for services I have performed. DPA shall incur no liability of any nature as a result of my volunteering.
9. I understand that in handling animals and performing other volunteer tasks, there is a risk of injury, including physical harm or death, and that all services performed by me will be done at my own risk. I understand that DPA strongly recommends that I always have a current tetanus immunization. I further understand that DPA recommends that any dogs and cats that I live with should be immunized by my veterinarian if they are not already.
10. I agree that if I choose to consume alcohol at DPA events where alcohol is served, I am expected to self-manage and maintain a professional demeanor at all times. If necessary and at the organization’s discretion, a DPA! representative may ask me to leave an event if intoxication interferes with my duties and/or my representation of the organization. In that situation, I will be expected to heed the request immediately without question or incident.
11. I agree not to share confidential donor or volunteer information or other DPA! records, information, or property without DPA! Executive Director permission. I agree to treat confidential information with respect and professionalism and will not access it for personal reasons under any circumstances. I agree that once my participation as a volunteer has ended, I will immediately return any DPA! materials, files, and other records in my possession.
12. I agree to complete all onboarding steps with the Volunteer Operations team at volunteer@dallaspetsalive.org. This includes Orientation and the Volunteer Agreement, in addition to onboarding activities required by my newly assigned team.
13. I agree to comply with the Social Media Policy as described on page 7 of the DPA Volunteer Handbook (hereinafter “Handbook”).
14. I acknowledge that I have received access to and read the Handbook. I agree to fully comply with the mission, rules, regulations, policies, guidance, programs, and requirements outlined in the Handbook as applicable to my volunteer role.
Therefore, on behalf of myself, my heirs, and personal representatives, I hereby release, discharge, indemnify, and hold harmless DPA and its assigns, successors, agents, staff, officers, board of directors, employees, contractors, and representatives from any and all claims, causes of action, or demands of any nature of cause whatsoever, including costs and legal fees arising out of, or relating to, my volunteering with DPA, including, but not limited to, animal bites, disease, accidents, property damage, or injuries. I expressly agree that this release, waiver, and indemnity is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted by the State of Texas and that if any portion is held invalid, the remainder shall continue in full force and effect. My signature below and my initials beside each numbered paragraph above affirm that all statements contained in this document are truthful and that I have read, understand, and truthfully completed this Agreement in its entirety.
