Five-year-old Tonks is searching for the perfect home, maybe even her own castle. She knows what she loves more than anything – her people – and will jump for joy when you arrive home. If there are other dogs, that’s cool, too, but she’ll pass on the cats. She enjoys playing with kids, but she can also be protective of children because her home is her castle, and that includes the youngest members of the family, too.
She’s a master of the basics. She takes treats gently, eats politely, does her business outside, and she walks on her leash like a pro. Having a good grip on her leash is important, though, due to her eagerness to take off and explore on her own. She dons a scruffy beard that gives this black and brown terrier mix a lighter look on her face.
Tonks spent time homeless, so a happy home is what’s at the top of her wish list. Life on her own also left her with heartworm, so she’s getting her health needs treated, but it’s likely her activity level will remain similar even when she’s well. She’s pretty chill during the day, and will even curl up for lots of affection on the lap of someone she trusts, including little ones.
She will definitely want a yard with a really tall fence (maybe even a moat!) to help her feel safe and secure inside her castle. She really shows her athletic ability when she runs. She’s been known to take flight using her outstanding jumping skills, so having a place that keep her from reverting to her elusive upbringing will give her the sense of home she craves. In fact, she’s not even crazy about having lots of toys. Home and family are what matter most to this girl.
Tonks is smart and clever, but apprehensive of new faces. She will want to be protective against those she thinks are not being their best selves around her family, but once she knows you, she will be the most affectionate, bearded beauty you’ve welcomed into your castle.
