Meet jolly Rusty! He is a 3-year-old, 60-pound Shepherd/Hound Mix with a very entertaining and eager-to-please personality. We adopted him in August 2020 from the Rockwall Animal Shelter. His sweet eyes caught our
attention, and we instantly wanted him to be a part of our family. We are
unsure of his history before the shelter, but he was caught running with
another dog on the side of a highway. Upon bringing Rusty home, he
adjusted quickly and seemed to understand our home was his too, and he
sought to make us proud by learning various tricks (sit, lay down,
shake, “play dead”, speak, high five, stay, leave it).
Rusty is a very sweet pup with those he trusts. He trusts women more than
men, but he CAN warm up to anyone with consistency. He is incredibly
smart, and we feel he can learn anything. He gets along great with other
dogs and is very playful, but seems to do best around dogs his size or
smaller; we are unsure of his temperament around cats. He loves to
cuddle with us as we wind down in the evenings, and is very content just
having a durable chew toy to play with throughout the day. An ideal home
would be one with mainly women, another dog (or two), and NO children.
He is also very agile and can jump VERY high, over most fences, so if
there is a free-range backyard with no fence, that may be safest.
Rusty is house and crate trained. He is incredibly deserving to be in a
home with someone who does not have a future with kids OR has the time
and energy to invest in specialized training with them. He will love
you loyally and unconditionally. This special pup is deserving of the
perfect furever home. Could it be with you? Apply to adopt Rusty today!
