Meet Lexi, a lovable Pitbull mix, possibly part Weimaraner, aged between 9 and 11. In April 2020, I welcomed Lexi into my home as a foster from the Fort Worth pound. Her fantastic behavior quickly won me over, leading to her official adoption a month later. In July 2020 I met my future spouse who brought a Corgi to the relationship. We moved in together in April 2021, blending our furry families. Unfortunately, Lexi and the Corgi haven’t been getting along recently, resulting in a separation after a disagreement. Currently, my in-laws are caring for the Corgi, while Lexi remains with us. Recognizing that this arrangement isn’t a long-term solution, I am now seeking a new, loving home for Lexi. I won’t return her to the pound, as I understand the emotional toll it would take on her. Although it’s heartbreaking to part with a dog I’ve grown to love, my priority is ensuring Lexi finds a safe and caring environment, perhaps fulfilling the foster mission I began three years ago.
The ideal home for Lexi would be with an older retired couple or individual who spends a significant amount of time at home, is active enough to handle a 60 lb dog on walks, and resides in a house with a spacious backyard. It’s crucial that there are no other pets and that Lexi won’t be crated or made to sleep outdoors. It’s preferable that there are no small children mainly because she’s not been around them for the past 3 years and as a senior dog prefers not to be tugged on. On top of being housebroken, spayed, and up-to-date on all vaccinations, Lexi is in excellent health and shape. She is remarkably well-behaved at home, never showing any destructive tendencies, and is incredibly gentle with people, never displaying aggression. While she may not be the best fit for dog parks due to her reactions to other dogs, she’s a wonderful companion ready for a loving forever home.
