Meet gorgeous, intelligent Gracie ll! She is an Australian Cattle Dog mix who is about 18 months old and about 35 pounds. She loves to be petted and to have her ears scratched. She is affectionate, playful, high-energy, extremely intelligent, and eager to please.
Gracie was a stray who was at Fort Worth Animal Control for two months before coming to stay with us six months ago. She loves her walks and although she doesn’t yet know how to heel, she is willing to walk at my (slow) pace and doesn’t pull at the leash. She goes to doggie “playcare” twice a week, and to the dog park twice a week, and gets along well with the other dogs. She also loves to play in the backyard, watching (and chasing) the squirrels and birds. She has not been destructive in either the yard or the house. She’ll play fetch with her toys, and she is learning to give up the toy so we can throw it!
Unfortunately, I have an older terrier who has been the only dog for several years, and there’s been some friction between the two. Gracie would be best in a home where she is either the only pet or where she has another large dog to play with. She’ll need walks and plenty of exercise, and she is so intelligent, so she’ll also need enrichment items. She loves puzzle toys and is really quick to solve them! She will likely need some obedience training for things like jumping up when she wants to play. Gracie is a little sensitive about being touched on her behind, but she has greatly improved since she’s been with us.
Gracie is spayed and fully housebroken, and she is current on her vaccinations. She is ready to find her forever home!
I fell in love with Gracie instantly, and I believe the right owner will too. She is an intelligent, affectionate companion who loves to exercise her body and her mind!
