Meet Baxter III (New Digs)!

Meet this handsome dog, Baxter III. He is a 2-year-old, 63 lb., Labrador Retriever mix, who is very fun-loving, smart, and people-loving. Baxter was found abandoned near the Ennis American Legion post in late October. His foster took him into their home for protection from the two nights of freezing temperatures expected. They took him to a vet in hopes a microchip might reunite him with his family. Good news is he was chipped! Bad news is, when the vet reached his previous family, they declined to claim him. But that means a new start for this sweet guy.

Baxter is an active and energetic pup who loves to go on his walkies, loves belly rubs and sharing his backyard playtime with his three foster siblings. He gets along fabulously with all dogs, is a people person and wants to everyone’s best friend. An ideal home for Baxter would be one with a large secure yard and an experienced dog owner capable of personally continuing the training that he started in his foster home to help Baxter be the best dog he can possibly be.

Baxter is both house trained and crate trained and is quickly learning to walk gently on leash. He has learned ‘sit’, ‘stay’, and ‘stop/sit/stay’ at intersections on his walkies. He is one smart pup! Baxter rides quietly and gently in the car.

He loves to play ball and fetch & retrieve! He also rides calmly in the car and continues to improve on his walkies-on-leash skills.

He has been fully vetted, is neutered, current on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and started on Heartgard and Nextguard.

This adorable pup is deserving of the perfect furever home. Could it be with you? Apply to adopt Baxter III today!
