Breed(s): Redbone Coonhound
Sydney is a 6-year-old, spayed, red and white retriever coonhound. She is about 45 pounds and absolutely loves to cuddle and be with her people! When we first got her, she was in bad condition. She had a broken tail and a really bad respiratory infection. She had lesions throughout her body like she was some kind of bait dog possibly. She was super scared at the slightest movement of people.
Sydney has high energy and is as fast as the speed of lighting! She is an inside dog and only goes out to run and play and of course to do her business. She loves to play with other dogs but also loves to just chill in the house. She loves cats as well and they seem to love her! She is also so curious at first with new cats especially and wants to play with them but would never hurt one. She can get pretty excited sometimes when first meeting new dogs and she has to be reminded to calm down.
Sydney currently lives with another dog and cat and we have no issues. She definitely needs a yard to be able to get her energy out. We don’t have any livestock so I’m not sure how she is with them. She does fine with small children, if she doesn’t want to be bothered she will immediately get up and walk away and go to an adult.
She is house trained and doesn’t tear anything up. She can be left alone for long periods without anything happening in the house. I have only crated her a couple times when I first got her but quickly found out she doesn’t need a crate but I’m sure she would do fine if she had to be left in one. She does pull on a leash. I haven’t had to take her anywhere except to the vet for shots so she hasn’t really had to be on a leash.
Sydney is a really good dog, she just really needs someone that can give her more attention. She would do well in a home alone or with with other dogs. Apply do adopt Sydney today!
