Breed(s): American Bulldog
Introducing the lovely Rosie! She is an eight year old, spayed, white and black American Bulldog. (Or as I call her, a couch cow. Moooo.) She weighs in at approximately 70-75lbs, so she is a bigger girl. I adopted her 6 years ago, when she was about two years old, from a local rescue. She is being re-homed through no fault of her own (I have been offered a position overseas).
Rosie is a low energy, laid-back doggo who loves lazing about on the couch and occasionally playing with her squeaky ball. It only comes in spurts, but when playing with her ball she acts like a pup. She loves laying in the sun, so I have been putting her in clothes so she does not get sunburns on her belly. She enjoys going for walks, as long as they are not too strenuous. She would not be an ideal hiking buddy. She is very dog selective and will chase cats, so she would do best as an only pet.
Rosie is initially shy/nervous when meeting strangers or encountering new things. However, all of this shyness can be overcome with the help of food. She is very food motivated and will warm up quickly with the aid of delicious treats. Once she has decided you are “her” people, she will love to snuggle up on the couch or bed. She even burrows under the blankets.
Rosie is leash- and crate-trained, housebroken, and knows basic commands. She is also up-to-date on all vaccinations and is taking monthly heartworm prevention. In the past, she has had issues with bladder crystals, but this can be easily controlled with diet if they recur.
In short, Rosie would do best in a home with no (or older) children, as she can be nervous, and due to her size. She would need to be the only pet, and slow intros (with treats!) to new people/situations are best. But she is more than willing to shower her family with affection. Are you that family?
