Meet Gracie II (New Digs)!

Meet gorgeous, intelligent Gracie ll! She is a beautiful Belgian Malinois mix who is about a year old and about 32 pounds. She has the soulful brown eyes, the dark tip of her tail and ears, and the dark muzzle of a Belgian Malinois, but she is smaller than the typical Malinois, and her coat is so buttery-soft. She loves to be petted and to have her ears scratched. She is affectionate, playful, high-energy, extremely intelligent, and eager to please.

Gracie was a stray who was at Fort Worth Animal Control for two months before coming to stay with us. She loves her walks and although she doesn’t yet know how to heel, she is willing to walk at my (slow) pace and doesn’t pull at the leash. She also loves to play in the backyard, watching (and chasing) the squirrels and birds. She has not been destructive in either the yard or the house. She’ll play fetch with her toys, and she is learning to give up the toy so we can throw it!

According to animal control staff, Gracie was fine with other dogs. Unfortunately, I have an older terrier who has been the only dog for several years, and there’s been some friction between the two. Gracie would be best in a home without cats or small dogs. She’ll need walks and plenty of exercise, and she is so intelligent, so she’ll also need enrichment items. She loves puzzle toys and is really quick to solve them! She will likely need some obedience training for things like jumping up when she wants to play. Gracie is a little sensitive about being touched on her behind, but she has greatly improved since she’s been with us.

Gracie is spayed and fully housebroken, and she is current on her vaccinations. Gracie is heartworm-positive. She is currently on doxycycline and prednisone until August 26, after which she can receive her first heartworm injection. She MUST be on confined rest and leashed walks only while she is receiving heartworm treatment. If you’re willing to use my vet, I would pay for heartworm treatment in the interest of getting this beautiful girl to the perfect home for her.

I fell in love with Gracie instantly, and I believe the right owner will too. She is an intelligent, affectionate companion who loves to exercise her body and her mind!
