DPA’s Dog of the Month – March: Meet Freckles!

Meet Freckles! He’s a fan of kind people, big trucks, car rides, squirrels and family life. And he’s looking for a permanent home. He’s a Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler mix with some big black and white patches, a whole lot of cute little spots and the urge to sleep on his back with all four paws up in the air.

Freckles foster mom describes him as happy, very smart, protective, patient and low maintenance.  No doubt he is a resilient canine who is quickly making himself a part of his foster family’s routine.

Freckles was found abandoned at an apartment complex and lucky pup that he is, found a great foster home at DPA.  His foster family says he’s a loving dog who feels comfortable being active outdoors–taking walks, romping in his backyard and chasing American Gray Squirrels.  Indoors, he likes to do exercise videos with his foster mom, copying her movements and trying to do ab crunches on his back! (He’s a funny dog, too!)

This sturdy pup is a bit shy when he first meets you but will warm up quickly.  He prefers to sit next to you but not snuggle. His foster mom thinks he gets along with most dogs but is a bit distrustful of people at times.  He’s come a long way in the past few months, though, and is now able to curl up with a dog friend and his foster mom in bed to take naps. He is politely housetrained and walks on a leash.

If you think Freckles could help be your new personal trainer, keep you company on those long walks and become your personal squirrel-chaser, apply to adopt him today! Now through March 31 his adoption fee is 50% off!
