DPA’s Dog of the Month – February: Meet Molly!

DPA’s Dog of the Month – February: Meet Molly!

Molly’s story should have a happy, tail-wagging ending.  Our dream is to see her in a forever home with some fun kids to play with, taking long walks with her family and cuddling up on the sofa in the evenings with her favorite people.   Molly is a young pup with cute black and white spots who came to Dallas Pets Alive as a stray and found a loving foster home. Molly has come through some tough times. This resilient dog has been successfully treated for breast cancer and heartworm, gratefully soaking up lots of TLC from her foster family as she recovered.   Molly is described by her foster family as a people pleaser.  She will quickly become your shadow, likes to sit with you on the porch in the morning while you drink your coffee, and adores kids.  A yard and patio is as important to her as her walks.  She’s house and crate- trained, walks on a leash and would do well to wear a harness for her walks.  We see Molly happiest when she is the only pet in the house.   We hear that the true path to her heart is littered with deer antler treats.  Maybe that’s what she will want from you this Valentine’s Day!  If you are looking for a loving companion and one special Valentine this year, considering adopting Molly.  Now through February 28 her adoption fee is 50% off! DPA’s Cat of the Month – January: Meet Cubby!

DPA’s Cat of the Month – January: Meet Cubby!

You can call him Cubby, but he also answers to Bubby or Bubs.  Whatever you call him, he’s one cool cat with a big fan club, including his current foster family.  Cubby is a young male Domestic Short Hair/Mixed.  He’s a cute young cat with bright green eyes and sleek panther-like black fur.  Cubby is from a rescued litter, looking for a much-deserved fur-ever home 🙂 Cubby has a lot of personality and has been on TV!  Well, actually he’s frequently on the baby monitor that his foster mom uses to check on her young child.  It seems Cubby likes to sleep in the crib when he finds the space and is often spotted by the security camera. This is a kitty who will keep you laughing:) Cubby is an energetic feline who jumps on the sofa with his foster puppy siblings and would prefer to be with other playful animals.  He easily gets along well with kids and animals of all shapes and sizes. He is independent, answers when you speak to him and even comes when he’s called!  He’s litter box-trained, gets along with both dogs and cats and doesn’t scratch anything but his scratching post. No wonder he’s popular with people! This Cat of the Month is a sweet, playful kitty who will provide you with hours of entertainment and lots of love.  If you think Cubby could be the star of your show, apply to adopt him today! Now through January 31 his adoption fee is 50%...
DPA’s Dog of the Month – January: Meet Stella!

DPA’s Dog of the Month – January: Meet Stella!

Say hello to the charming Stella, a female Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler Mixed with soft light brown and cream coloring and a winsome smile!  This unique girl is a study in contrasts — she is both cuddly and independent, prefers not to bark but loves to talk, and is an affectionate cuddle bug but likes to choose who, where and when.   Stella was rescued from a shelter and has done very well in her foster home, quickly establishing herself as a member of the household and earning the title, “Queen of Comfy” because of her penchant for sofas and beds.  She’s a classy canine who even has her own pillow which she carries with her, placing it in the proper location and fixing it with her paws to get the desired shape and softness.   While Stella likes to take human affection at her own pace, she is more than happy to help you wake up in the morning by giving you little kisses and snuggling up to you in bed.  She loves the sound of her foster’s voice and sets her tail to wagging when she sees her come through the door 🙂   Stella is well-behaved, house broken, loves to be with other dogs (her size or larger) and makes friends easily.  She does well in a quiet environment, preferably with active adults who can walk her twice a day.  Having her own yard would be a great idea, but she would do well in an apartment, too.   Ready to start the new year off right?  Consider adding Stella to your household and resolve to share your...
DPA’s Dog of the Month – December: Meet June Carter!

DPA’s Dog of the Month – December: Meet June Carter!

June Carter is an adult, female Great Dane/Shepherd mix with a soft brown coat and a white chest. She’s a gentle soul who has seen some tough times but has a lot of love to offer the right family. We don’t know if she’s musical–like her namesake–but we know she is a calm and gentle pup who is especially fond of people, grabs your hand to get more pets (don’t stop, that feels good!) and loves to be with kids. Her idea of a great day is to play chase with humans and dogs in the backyard and soak in some warm sunshine. June’s best and most endearing quality may be her quiet strength and she’s a whole lot stronger than she looks. When she first came to DPA, she was diagnosed with heartworms and a type of cancer called hemangiosarcoma. Both problems were treated and thankfully, June is back to feeling like a dog who just wants to play and run in the yard again. We think she’s earned it! This special dog is housetrained, can walk on a leash and will do anything for a treat. 🙂 She would do well as the only dog in your home or as a playmate to some smaller dogs. All she needs now is a loving and affectionate forever home! Could you be the person to make harmony with this sweet dog? Give us a call or apply to adopt her here today! Now through December 31, her adoption fee is 50%...
DPA’s Cat of the Month – December: Meet Paula PiCATso!

DPA’s Cat of the Month – December: Meet Paula PiCATso!

Paula PiCATso is a six-month old, female Domestic Short Hair/Mixed who was named after the famous cubist painter, Pablo Picasso. Her interesting black and white geometric markings are reminiscent of geometric, abstract shapes that Picasso was so famous for. This little feline work of art is described as sweet, soft, cuddly and playful. She’s also a quick learner and loves to bond with people and other cats. In addition to being affectionate, it seems that this cool cat is creatively entertaining! No “still life” for Paula! When the creative muse strikes, she loves to run around the house and chase her tail in the bathtub (politely waiting until your shower is over) or chase a laser pointer. Well, artists can be a bit eccentric! Paula has given up meowing for squeaking–seems to be some new form of feline self-expression unique to her–and makes up for the lack of vocalizing with the loudest purr you’ve ever heard. Yes, we think Paula could win a purring contest paws down! Paula will need some serious play time and would do well with another imaginative cat or dog who is creative in the use of toys. She appreciates time with her human family, as well. Whatever she is doing, she’s a loving cat who makes a great companion. Could you be the right fit for Paula? Apply to adopt her today! Now through December 31 her adoption fee is 50%...
